TREASURE HUNT Recap & Spoiler
Episode Title: TREASURE HUNT
Air Date: 4/21/22
Writer: Phillip Carroll
Director: Harold Schwartz

Darla and Gary get encrypted notes from Henry asking them to meet him at a ‘50s diner at 12:00 PM. They all arrive but no sign of Henry. Instead, an 18-year-old waitress delivers them an envelope—inside is a message: “I HAVE CAPTURED HENRY. IF YOU WANT TO SEE HIM AGAIN, FOLLOW MY CLUES. THE NEXT ONE IS AT THE TALLEST TREE IN LITTLE TOWN.” Darla calls Professor and asks if he can locate Henry. He says that he can’t get him on a tracking device, he must be underground or out of range. Henry doesn’t answer his communicator device. He is, in fact, kidnapped. Gary and Darla then ask if Professor knows what the tallest tree in Little Town is. He has no clue. Master Himas sends down a monster to attack the town while everyone is preoccupied with finding Henry. Gary and Darla run around to places with tall trees but none have their next clue on it. Finally, Professor calls them and says he tracked down what could be a good candidate – the fake Redwood tree in the Little Town Kiddie Park. They go and sure enough there is a clue there. It says “VERY GOOD FOR THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX. YOUR NEXT CLUE IS BEHIND A SIGN THAT SAYS, LITTLE TOWN ROCKS!” Darla and Gary groan, having no idea where the sign could be. Meanwhile, the monster is on the loose and Professor encourages one of them to fight it. Darla thinks she will be quicker at getting information from townsfolk about a sign and Gary is left to stall the monster. Darla goes to music stores in Downtown Little Town to see if there are any signs that says “Little Town Rocks!” One of the managers finally explains that they all think Little Town sucks and nobody would have a sign like that. So what hipster location would carry a sign that exclaims something “rocks”? Meanwhile, Professor Beckett asks for a copy of the first cryptic clue. Darla passes Gary, who has gotten rid of the monster temporarily, and has him take the first clue to Professor’s lab. Darla then goes to the library. She looks up “Little Town Rocks” on the Web. The results make her eyes go wide and then she shakes her head, feeling stupid. Gary watches Professor as he analyzes the first letter (“I HAVE CAPTURED HENRY”). He notices that the handwriting has some distinctive features – such as the capital “Y” has curls at the top and a loop at the tail. Darla now goes to a historical landmark – a bunch of giant boulders at a site known as Little Town Rocks. She looks behind the sign but sees nothing. Out loud, she repeats the clue “Your next clue is behind a sign that says Little Town Rocks.” She turns around and notices behind her is a clue, on top of the rocks. She rolls up her pants and climbs the rocks and reads the next clue. “I CAN’T SAY I’M NOT IMPRESSED. YOUR NEXT CLUE IS GOOD FOR SECOND BEST.” Darla has no idea what this means and becomes frustrated. Darla goes to the lab and shows the third clue to Gary and Professor Beckett. They brainstorm but don’t understand what “second best” means. In fact, it could allude to almost anything recreational in town (bowling, golf, race cars, video games). And even then, it wouldn’t give a specific location (like which game at an arcade). Professor asks the group when they talked to Henry last. Neither of them can recall speaking to him later than the day before. Gary wonders why Henry would send a letter inviting Darla and himself to dinner for an important meeting. Professor suggests Henry knew he was being listened to through his communication device and felt the only safe way of communication was in writing. Darla tries to figure this out – Henry was in trouble and asks to meet them in a public location to tell them. Why didn’t he just go and find them in person, at their homes, and why didn’t he invite Professor Beckett, the only one of Henry’s friends who he rarely is seen with? Darla predicts that Henry was captured earlier and the first letter wasn’t sent by him but by the person playing the game with him. Professor says that it’s Master Himas and Darla explains that if Henry was, in fact, captured by him, he wouldn’t spend time playing games with them. He would use it to lure in the others or simply be content with the fact. Professor asks for the letter and Darla pulls it out of her pocket. Prof Beckett points out that it’s not in Henry’s writing and points out the Y with a curly top and loopy tail. Darla abandons the “second best” clue and has a better idea. The three go to the diner where they were set to meet. She asks the 18-year-old waitress who gave them the first clue who handed them the envelope. She says she couldn’t make out his face and then excuses herself because she’s busy. Darla watches her leave and realizes that there are no customers she is waiting on – instead, she just seems nervous and happy to get away from Darla. Professor notices on the sandwich board in which the waitress was writing on a Y with a curly top and loopy tail. Darla jumps the counter and asks the girl what she did with Henry. The girl breaks down and says that she is an admirer of Henry and was hurt when he wouldn’t be her boyfriend. She captured him and hid him underneath the restaurant. The three go underneath the floorboards through an opening in the kitchen and find Henry, rather annoyed, below. The girl apologizes but the four aren’t very receptive. At a pizza parlor, the gang celebrates Henry’s rescue and tell him about the clues. Henry reads the third and points out that “Second Best” is an ice cream store two doors down. The group rolls their eyes and laugh. At the Second Best ice cream store, the gang finds the clue and the employee says that a young girl put it there, saying it was part of a game she was playing. The fourth clue says “I’LL EXPLAIN EVERYTHING I KNOW. BUT THE ‘50S DINER IS WHERE YOU MUST GO.”

Re: TREASURE HUNT Recap & Spoiler
Just so you guys know, that giant tree was at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California where I live. I can’t believe Gina and Simon were five minutes from me and I didn’t get to meet them (plus the park is open to the public so assuming they filmed it during hours, I could have watched them up close).

Before you judge someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way, you’re a mile away and they’re barefoot.

Re: TREASURE HUNT Recap & Spoiler
I once saw yellow signs that says “TAOHA” on it and arrows. I had my mom follow them and it led to some giant parking lot with lots of trailers and crew people. But I dind’t know how to go inside so we didn’t. But I looked for the actors (couldn’t find them).

I love New York but it sucks not being near David. Would you guys move if you were dating one of the actors?

Yes. Once Simon asks me out, I will probably leave Oklahoma. (Won’t be missing much, trust me.)

Portland OR rocks! It’s the best place to live ever! Fortunately, I don’t really have a crush on anybody from Henry Adams so I don’t expect I’ll be dating (but sometimes it’s the ones who don’t have a crush that attract the attention of the suitor).

It’d be illegal for me to date any of them.

Well me too but I’m still going to marry Graham Petros. Then I’ll be Peyton Petros. Haha what a stupid name. It sounds like a cartoon!

Re: TREASURE HUNT Recap & Spoiler
By the way I’m pissed I don’t live in California or else I would have auditioned and gotten the part of that girl (who is my age and looks like me)!
